Privacy Policy
How Dive Exporter handles your data — short version: it doesn't.
Last updated: 9 May 2026
Who we are
Dive Exporter (the "app") and diveexporter.app (the "website") are operated by Simone Carletti, an independent developer based in Italy. For privacy questions, contact contact@diveexporter.app.
Scope
This policy covers the Dive Exporter iOS app distributed through the Apple App Store, and the Dive Exporter website. It does not cover third-party services you may choose to use to view, store, or share your dive data after exporting it from the app.
The iOS app
No personal data collection
The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, and no advertising or tracking frameworks of any kind embedded in the app.
Bluetooth
The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) solely to discover and connect to your dive computer. The app does not scan for, identify, or interact with any other Bluetooth devices for any purpose other than dive-data download. Bluetooth is never used to derive your location.
Dive data
Dive data downloaded from your dive computer (depth profiles, durations, gas mixes, timestamps, and similar information recorded by the device) is stored locally on your iPhone. It is not uploaded to any server operated by us or by a third party.
Exporting data
When you choose to export a dive log, the app generates a UDDF file and presents the standard iOS share sheet so you can save or send the file. Where the file goes after that is entirely your choice and is governed by the privacy policies of the destination apps or services you select (for example, Files, Mail, or a third-party dive log app).
External links
The app contains links that open the Dive Exporter website in your browser (for example, the support and manual links in the About screen). These links include a utm_source parameter so we can see, in aggregate, that visits to the website originated from the app. No personal identifier is included.
The website
Analytics
The website uses a privacy-focused, GDPR-compliant analytics service. The service does not use cookies, does not track visitors across sites, and does not collect or store personal data or IP addresses in identifiable form. The information collected is aggregated and used solely to understand which pages are visited and how the site is performing.
Hosting and server logs
The website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, user agent, and request paths) for limited periods for security and operational purposes. We do not use those logs for analytics or profiling.
If you contact us at contact@diveexporter.app, your email address and the contents of your message will be received by our email provider and retained for as long as necessary to handle your request.
Apple and the App Store
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain information when you download or use the app — for example, App Store analytics or, with your permission, crash diagnostics shared with developers. That data is collected and processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, not ours. We may receive aggregated, non-identifying statistics from Apple about app downloads and usage.
Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar privacy laws, you have rights regarding personal data we hold about you, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of that data, and to object to processing or request data portability.
Because the app does not collect personal data, and the website's analytics provider does not store identifiable data about you, in practice we typically have no personal data of yours to act on. If you believe we hold data about you (for example, because you've emailed us), you can exercise these rights by contacting contact@diveexporter.app.
International data transfers
Some service providers used by the website (such as our analytics, hosting, and email providers) may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, we rely on these providers' own safeguards and legal mechanisms (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure data is protected to a standard equivalent to that required by EU law.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's release notes or on this page.
